Well both ways of cooking your lobster are great please don't kill the flavor by cooking it in beer or wine or any herbs. As for how long I would say it depends on the size of your lobster and your oven or water. Invest in a metal stem thermometer It will save you. Both ways of cooking it are great and have good points. If you broil it cut the top of the tail pull out the tail meat leave it attached the shell will give so you can work it out slit the top drizzle a little meted butter on them and broil cook to 160 yes take them out and let them set they will get up to 165 or more on their own if you boil them place long wooden skiers in them so they don't curl up cook to 160 them let rest.
